2001
1st  Season

2001-2002 SEASON (7-3-1)

The Sirens completed their inaugural season 7-3-1.

January 2001

Out of state owners from Oregon, Chris Heinz and Nelson Sewell, move the Sirens to Sacramento.  Jerry and Joe Gardner, not married then, were the primary operations personnel at the time.

February 3, 2001

Sirens owners hold their first tryouts at Glenn Hall Park in Sacramento, over 100 women show up.

April 2001

The Sirens receive their equipment in early April with money funded by Colleen Maitoza and Lill Jarell.

April 28, 2001

With only two weeks of practice under their belt, the Sirens travel to Hawaii to play an exhibition with the Hawaii Legends. The Legends routed the sirens in a 28-14 win.

Summer of 2001

Gayle Trotten and Carol Thomas purchase 45% from Chris Heinze. 10% is given to Jerry and Joe Gardner.

July 2001

Sirens announce Chic Bist as the Sirens Head Coach.

August 3, 2001

The Sirens All-star players from Hawaii game participated in the first All-star game in Las Vegas - Pacific vs the Atlantic Conferences.

October 2, 2001

Colleen Maitoza and Lill Jarrell purchase 45% of the franchise from Nelson Sewell of Oregon.

October 28, 2002

Sirens presented with Resolution of the City Council.

November 4th, 2001

The Sacramento Sirens 2001 Inagural Season kicks off with the Women's American Football League (WAFL) against the Portland Rose City Wildcats at Consummes River College (CRC)

January 27, 2002
1st Playoff Game

The Sacramento Sirens loose in the first playoff game to the Long Beach Quake. Long Beach goes on to win the 1st Women's Bowl in February vs. the Jacksonville Dixie Blues.
