Position Profile Series Position: Defensive End Player: Gina McCann September 3, 2003 What is most enjoyable about playing your position: I get to play football! lol more specific about my position, I guess is the variety - sometimes, I am the one who gets to go in to try to sack the QB, and sometimes, I am responsible for allowing someone else to.... I like the challenge of trying to think on the fly - reacting to what the opponent is doing. What are some tips to being successful at playing your position: Well, I think quickness is very key - not to be confused with speed, which is also important, but the quickness is so important...gotta beat your opponent off the line, reacting to what they are doing.... if you have quickness, your reactions can really be beneficial to your team. Strength and speed is important as well, but I think so many people overlook the quickness as being so important - spin around someone to get by them, or different hand techniques where you are controlling the battle because you got your hands on them first before they knew what happened.... and the most basic and most important - getting off that ball - your opponent has the advantage by knowing when the ball will be hiked..... you have to react so your quickness means so much.
