Exhibition Games Moved to Pre-Season
by The Sacramento
Sirens
June 12, 2002
No “Home Field”, postpones June
8 game against the Oakland Banshees.
The SIRENS were disappointed to learn that
their practice field became unavailable for the first Spring
exhibition game scheduled for June 8. After contacting 39
high schools and 5 colleges in the greater Sacramento area,
the SIRENS learned that no alternative field was available.
The game against Oakland was postponed to August 3, during
the Sirens Fall training camp.
“Battered” Eugene team loses
edge – can’t face SIRENS at full strength.
Also disappointing the Spring players, the
Eugene Edge cancelled the June 15th game with the Sirens.
At the end of their regular season, the Edge had lost several
players to injuries and were unwilling to travel to Sacramento
and risk additional injuries to the tough Sirens team.
SIRENS to scrimmage for fans
The June 15th game was changed to a scrimmage
FREE to the public, to be held at Rio Americano High School,
4540 American River Drive, in Sacramento. The Sirens players
will be appearing for one to two quarters of play beginning
at 1:00 PM on Saturday.
Soda and baked goods sales will benefit
the Sirens Sports Foundation to support kids football programs
in the summer and fall of 2002.
Sacramento SIRENS take on the Oakland Banshees
in first Pre-Season exhibition game August 3, 2002.
Second Pre-season game to be scheduled.
