February 24, 2003

On Monday, February 24, 2003, the Sacramento Sirens, Sacramento's professional women's full tackle football team, will be honored by the California State Assembly for their outstanding accomplishments. Founded in 2001, the Sirens have had tremendous success in their first 2 years including becoming the 2002 Women's Affiliated Football
Conference champions with a final record of 10-0.

"I am both honored and grateful to the Assembly and specifically Assembly member Darrell Steinberg for recognizing the Sirens' dedication and hard work" said Colleen Maitoza, Sirens co-owner and General Manager. "Recognition by the Assembly of the Sirens undefeated championship season last year was an important step in the Sirens organization and women's football as a whole."

Assembly member Steinberg's resolution will be read into the Assembly record on Monday, February 24 at 11:00 AM. Several Sirens players and management staff will attend the reading. Click here to view the assembly resolution. (pdf)
